Andrew Jones built the best micro wood electric boat I've seen.
Переглядів 3,3 тис.2 місяці тому
6 years ago a guy named Andrew Jones drove across the United States, some 3000 miles, just to share with me his maiden voyage experience on a boat he built by hand. Andrew had no boat building experience but he didn't let that stop him. Thru research, trial and error he came up with this remarkable boat that he later gave away.
Outdoor cat cage accessible from indoors

With a bit of fluted plastic and imagination, I made a tunnel from a window opening to an outdoor caged viewing platform for my cat. The cat's tail was broken at the base and the femur bone broke at the hip socket. The tail and femur end was removed and now ligaments attach the leg to the hip. He's healed up now but was constantly escaping when we opened an outside door. Hopefully he's built up...

How did you create the steering for this sweet boat. I want to do the same style of steering for my dinghy and I can’t figure it out.
Very cool Sir!
Fix the stupid exhaust pipe.
Wonderful work sir!! I have a motto : “never miss an opportunity to reinvent the wheel”. You sir are the absolute master. I do hope that you keep developing!
when you cut rear fork my first thought spring wont work anymore. also adding electric hybrid to power front wheels or just one wheel would give you reverse :)
Is there any bicycle camper builds for mom and kids?
Hi my name is Julie me and my two children are in the middle of Texas somewhere close to I-10 West the time is going on 1:00 p.m.. me and my two children have been homeless for over a year and a half now and I figured we should buy a van to turn into a camper van if we were going to be homeless as all the shelters are full and to be honest me and my kids don't want to live at a shelter. I'm trying to homeschool them here and there and somehow show them a good time in a hard life LOL. It is difficult and stressful finding places to park our van. I would love to sell our van and just buy a bicycle camper but I have no clue what to do. I don't even know where we would stay while building a bicycle camper but it sure would be nice to not have to worry about auto insurance and panhandling for gas. In case anyone is wondering I left a sort of abusive boyfriend of 3 years that would not let me get a job. So I finally had enough and me and my kids just left with nothing. I would love to just travel with my kids and when my daughter is old enough I can actually work part-time and they could just stay in the AC in the camper. Our dream is to own an acre of land and buy an arched cabin to live in. There is cheap land in some states. An arched cabin only cost us $3-4,000. Can anyone steer us in the right direction of building a bicycle camper?🌺🌄🏖️🤗🤞🙏
This is really cool Thank you for sharing
How do you prevent the stump from rotting below the soil line?
What rating does it get from the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) regarding construction, performance, and durability requirements for regulated automobile safety-related components, IE how slow do you have to be travelling to survive an impact, just thinking about his safety, I hope his wife has good life cover for him, as for MPG I have four-door Nissan that gets 70 MPG on long trips, will someone please tell this man to never use this on roads with other vehicles, IE cars, lorries, buses, trucks, motorcycles, rickshaws, wheelbarrows, anything heavier than he weighs, its scary thinking about him on the roads in that eggshell, his idea of tough is mad, is he comparing it to plastic bag or a car,
......und was ist mit Motorradfahrern? Sind die geschützt? Wohl eher nicht.
people ride electric one wheels at 50mph :) not everything needs to be "safe" .
I love piddling around and you’ve created a really cool ride
I see a lot of critics. I've followed Paul for a long time. Paul put forth the effort to show a concept, build it, and record it. He shared it with us. Please show him the courtesy and appreciate the efforts. Maybe his idea won't work in someone's city requiring cement trucks for safe driving, but they are still relevant AND usable in this world where subcompact cars with hatchbacks, bicycles with panniers, and simply people walking home with their groceries still live and breathe. Thanks, Paul!!!
Thank you Dan! Very much appreciate your comment.
If you make the bottom of the windows able to tip out, it will solve your condensation issue by giving some ventilation and still keep you dry if it rains.
Super mega top camper
Super mega Camper
This is brilliant! Thank you Paul for sharing your idea. I’m going to take this to my local council office tomorrow and talk to them about the possibility of making some of these and I’m up for fundraising. Families may not sleep together but they’ll be right next to each other and they’ll be safe and dry and warmer. Thank you again
How much for the bike camper?
I follow you more 10 years. Thank you.
Belle machine au doux son du mono. Merci.
Very nice job 😊
Damn, you've done exactly what I'm slowly but surely deciding I want to do. I am 20, and in college as an engineering student as well as a music student. Over the past few months I've been looking into motor cycles, I already love cars, and have a project car I'm currently working on, but I found something called the Monoracer to be probably the coolest recumbent bike thing I've ever seen, but of course it's literally this 100k super bike thing that's also ultra rare and hand built, so no way I'm getting my hands on that any time soon, then I found that there's this company not too far from me in Victoria Canada that's making a thing called the Electrom. They sell it as a kit that's somewhere around 8k, however it's not fully enclosed, and I don't just have 8k to drop on a little bike right now. As I've continued to look into these kinds of vehicles, I've pretty much decided that I gotta build something myself, and this has taken me to looking into endurance E-bike builds that people have made for running these European coast to coast endurance races that cover thousands of kilometers. After some digging through all these builds, I've decided I want something more aimed at being fun, more focused around performance, and I've found I really like the idea of using a single electric hub motor in the rear, and making a little fully enclosed, roll cage equipped, recumbent electric motor cycle thing, and building it in much the same way I make my RC planes, using hand molded/formed carbon fiber shaped around forms and molds. I think I'm gonna go for it though, it seems like something that's far more achievable than I've really ever thought it could be.
Totally go for it. Do it when you're young. You will inevitably make mistakes and see improvements you'd want to make on your next iteration. I waited too long, because I don't know if Id have the stamina or money to make a second, more refined prototype.
Please do it…. And if you could video the design, development, construction, etc., I (and I presume many others) would be extremely interested.

You have been blessed by God in many ways but mostly by having a great Mother. I lost mine 5 years ago and I miss her every day. Take care and may God bless you with salvation through Jesus. John 3:16.
Watched from start. Thourly enjoyed every minute so much that I am considering my own with round tube and fiberglass body and an inline Honda twin. Thanks for everything.
Well done sir, I too believe this could be the answer to many commuters dreams and have been working along similar lines (also for years now!). We should keep in touch if you like, always great to have a second opinion ! Let me know if you'd like to see my prototype narrow tilting car, it's based on a Chinese titling three wheeler (125cc) with a fibreglass shell I designed and had made, but the eventual (production ?) one will be electric of course.
Hey Roy. Would love to see what you've come up with. the tilting vehicle can be a bit tricky to design and use in real world conditions. Would be interested in seeing what you came up with.
I wonder if you had considered converting those existing spoked wheels to tubeless? I went down that route on my 17” Honda CT125 wheels a few years back and it has worked perfectly using the split tube or ghetto method. Cost was negligible and took about 45 mins per wheel This is it on a KLR650 ua-cam.com/video/60bi1r2Xvbo/v-deo.html
That things just cool

how would one build something for alaska winters?
Imagine how efficient it would be with an electric scooter battery and motor
You should have been born in India, Indonesia or the Philippines . 😆
Eweww
the front end , Are there plans out there to copy? I do not know about camber and the angles so I had rather use proven plans for convenience Asking all for advice if you know.
It's just a trike with a fiberglass shell on it and a small motorcycle engine. It's not anything new.
@@SilvaDreams No, it's a flute plastic shell, and yes, it is something new.
@@paulwelkinsdiy I have never heard of flute plastic before, but from what I saw it was corrugated plastic like what some signs or mail containers are made out of.
@@SilvaDreams Exactly. Fluted plastic is just another name for corrugated plastic. It's great for prototyping as it doesn't hold up as long in extreme sunny conditions as fiberglass or other material. And super light.
What was the mpg on this? I missed it Someone in comments said 87mph. I have a 2017 Toyota Yaris L with 1.5 liter and 5 speed. Constantly gets 54mpg at 55mph on flat ground. Has a/c and good stereo and can easily go over 100mph. And that's all factory weight and no upgrades. Thing is, these vehicles are cool as hell, but if it's not getting over 100mpg, it's just a toy
Very good , 👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🇧🇷
There's a company called Aptera that's following a similar idea that Paul has. The tear drop car design by Aptera. But, it's electric with solar panel on the roof to recharge the battery since it's so efficient it requires minimal electrical to charge. Can't wait to see the cars be delivered late 2024 or in 2025.
It's classified as a motorcycle. The panels get you about 40 miles per day. It's still intended to plug in but, only needs a 120 outlet due to the relatively small battery it requires.
Ah yes Aptera... They have been claiming to make deliveries for years now. Too bad they can't make a functional vehicle that is roadworthy.
@@SilvaDreams Uncle Sam hasn't seen fit to shoot over $452,000,000 like another electric vehicle manufacturer of note. Matter of fact I think Aptera has secured a total of something like $33,000,000 in funding primarily from small investors.
Wonderful vehicle. Would love to try it, on closed course, w/o traffic.
Moms are so precious! I miss my mom as well!❤
Great project! Love it!❤
Next time, use an electric motor and batteries.
Batteries would make it too heavy; and the energy necessary to charge them would produce a lot more greenhouse gas than the motorcycle engine does. Electric cars are not the solution most people think they are. All of the fuel burned in the transportation industry produces about 10% of the greenhouse gas that is produced by the agricultural industry. If you want to live a green life, use a motorcycle for all of your solo commuting; and stop eating meat.
@@yourhealinghome8812I agreed with you about electric cars as well. Realistically, the world probably would shift over to hybrid instead of electric cars. Check out the brand Aptera. They're a company making a tear drop car with motors instead of an engine.
You built a truly nice vehicle. Impressive.
Do you have a battery pack for the USB stuff? It's great to have full power available for things like that fan, or a full charge for phone or tablet, when there's no sun, or outlet available... I used the battery pack to power my usb fan, while on the train, in summer 🥵
Instead of crescent wrench, maybe look at the small Knipex "cobra" pliers, kind of the best "every day carry" tool! And, I carry a SAK, one that has tweezers, 'toothpick', scissors, awl, corkscrew, Philips driver, small & normal blades, can opener, bottle opener/flat blade driver, and, for a surprising number of uses, a magnifying glass... I have a larger one that has a bigger blade, and a saw, but it's usually in my pack, the other one is small enough that I "hang" it in my pocket: I attach a short piece (3"/4cm) of nylon strap to the ring, with a plastic buckle on the other end, which I stick in the "watch pocket" of my jeans, so that the knife doesn't sit in the bottom of the pocket, and I just grab the strap to drag it out... Sounds complicated, but it's really practical, prevents the knife from wearing the pocket, and allows you to keep a bit of change in the pocket, without the knife and change getting all tangled up.
In that long "glove box", maybe you could put in a light weight, 'drawer', with a pull tab, so that things are held in place, and you can get to things that you put in the front, more easily... Adds a few grams, but makes for more accessible storage, and keeps things more organized, especially if you turn it brake hard while traveling... Just another thought.
